When Johnny Galvich died, he left behind his wife Brownie and 4 children.

If he were alive today, he would also be the proud Grandfather of 3 Grandchildren and 1 Great Grandchild.. .

I believe this was September 1960..Riviera Awards Banquet. It is the last picture ever taken of Johnny & Brownie together before his death.

John 'Dewey' Galvich
"The one and only JC Galvich"
1946 - 2005

Son John, known to many as Dewey in his younger years and JC later in life, served his country in the U.S. Air Force. He was stationed in Vietnam where he earned the purple heart. His airplane was shot down on two different occasions both resulting in injury. After returning to the States, he opened a hardware store in Colorado. He later specialized in the sale of heavy machinery parts and digital equipment for use in industry. John passed away on February 14th, 2005 at St. Peters Hospital in Olympia, Washington at the age of 58. Retired and residing with his wife Carol on their lovely ranch in the beautiful State of Washington, John enjoyed fishing in the nearby lakes with his best friend Ron. With his great sense of humor, he could always put a smile on your face. He was a loving father to two wonderful children, Barbara and John, and dearly loved his grandson Zachery, who he knick named the 'Zack Attack' for his power in sports.

Daughter Sandra - A few of John's last words were, "Don't let anyone but Sandy take over the team", (she had been working with John & the team prior to his being hospitalized). So, at the age of 17 and a senior in high school, Sandy took over the daily workouts while John was in the hospital and until a new coach was hired. At that time, she stood poolside and introduced each swimmer from age 6 on up, to their new coach as they arrived for workout. The trouble was she kept saying George Haines instead of Breen ( a very tough day).

Sandy went on to teach and coach at the Jordan Family YMCA and later as Asst. Coach at I.A.C.

Later, moving to Bloomington, Indiana, she worked and took a few classes at I.U. Sandy has spent the past 20+ years living in Texas, most recently working at a local weekly newspaper. She recently retired to care for her dogs and paint in her spare time.
