JERRY MILLER

Started swimming at the Riviera in I believe 1956. 
Swam for my first medal (bronze) at a meet in Ft. Wayne, I think.
1958 joined the IAC
Many meets, competitions, and award ceremonies later, it was 1966, my Senior year in High School.
National JR. champion 200 meter backstroke, qualified for the cut for the AAU Summer Nationals in Lincoln, Nebraska.
State Champion 200 meter backstroke.
National Record for the 200 meter Backstroke at the JR Nationals in 1965.
Gold medal for the 100 meter Backstroke for the City Championship in 1966
October 1966 selected for the Ind. AAU All State Swimming team, 200 meter Backstroke
Selected as the swimming recipient of the Indpls. Chamber of Commerce All Sports Award in 1965 
Fall 1966 enrolled at Indiana University and was accepted as a member of the IU Swimming team coached by James E. "DOC" Councilman and part of the Big 10 Champion Swim Team while at I.U. Later "Lettered". Also, member of I.U. Water Polo Team
Graduated Spring 1970, BS  Business
Married to Portia Martz 1971
April 1,1972 was sworn in as an Indiana State Trooper ....( stranger things have happened)
1974 Stationed at the Bloomington Post District 33 and remained there for the next 18 years.
Spring 1991, I was struck from the rear while parked off the edge of SR 37 about 5 miles N of Bloomington and after a year of physical therapy, was placed in disability status.
1995 Relocated to Palm Harbor FL in a retired/disability status
I have 2 children, Andrew W. 27, and Amanda C. 16
