August 20, 1945: John Galvich was commended at Captain's Mast this date for performance of duty as follows: "As swimming instructor in the 21st Regiment you have continuously maintained a high percentage of qualified swimmers, with the result that the percentage of non-swimmers in that regiment is much lower than that of other regiments. By your sincere devotion to duty and untiring efforts, you have contributed greatly to the training of navy men."
