Becky Collins came from Johnny's "Learn to Swim" Program. Coach Galvich entered Becky in her first nationals at Shamrock-Hilton, Houston in 1957. She weighed all of 88 lbs. and at that time was not able to butterfly more than 80 yards with the dolphin kick, yet placed 3rd in the 200 meter butterfly and 8th in the 100 meter butterfly.*

In 1959, Becky captured the National Senior Butterfly Championships in the 110y and 220y and 200y and 200m I.M. At this time, she was the only girl beside Sylvia Ruuska to swim the 400y I.M. under 5 minutes, losing to Ruuska in the 59 Indoor Nationals by 4/10th (4:58.2 to 4:58.6 for Collins).*

In 1960, Becky  captured the National Senior Butterfly Championships in the 200m.
