JANICE NIELSEN

After moving to Pittsburgh in 1957, I continued to swim, but
it was never the same after Rivi and swimming under Johnny. No coach could
compare. I attended Butler University for a year, but decided to marry
before finishing. My marriage produced three beautiful daughters
with my youngest (Tracy) being a PA. State Swimming Champion. I relived my
wonderful swimming years through her every time she swam. |
|

I was married ten years and have been divorced for 27 years...WOW!! I have
been seeing a wonderful man (Ed Korbett) for three years, who lost his
wife to cancer and he makes me very happy.
Since this profile was listed on Johnny's Web Site, I am
sad to announce that Ed suddenly passed away in January 2003. Janice
had five wonderful years with Ed and will forever cherish her memories of
him. |

The picture of my daughters and myself shows my oldest daughter, Christine
(37) on the left, then me, Tracey (29) and Lisa (34) and was taken
recently when Lisa was in town from San Francisco. They are all college
graduates and I am very proud of them. My greatest accomplishment is to
have raised them myself as a single parent.

Tracey is the mother of my three darling grandchildren, Carlyn (7),
Garrett (4) and Clay (2). Garrett looks exactly like my dad,
Arnold. Arnold passed away in 1991 from complications of diabetes, as did
my brother Kenny in 1970. My mother Madeline died in 1993.
Well, I guess I have rambled on long enough, but 30+
years is a long time!!! I will never forget my years with Johnny and he
will always have a special place in my heart. He was such an important
part of my life and I will never forget him.
Love, Janice |
