NANCY VAN NESS FRIEDMAN Nancy Van Ness joined the Riviera Swim Team in 1959. She lived at the Galvich home during her swimming days at the Riviera. After leaving Riviera, Nancy did not get in a pool again for years and then only to prove to her husband and son that she truly DID know how to swim! She was fortunate enough to spend her Junior year of H.S. in Florence, Italy and while in college, 4 months in Mexico. She has a degree in Applied Behavioral Science. In her retirement years, she has enjoyed sailing and scuba diving, attended Culinary school, completed a summer internship with a French Chef, who has asked her to return to the restaurant this summer and she plans to do so. She tries to take at least one academic class at the local college each semester and is an active member of the Scared Heart Catholic Church.
Nancy worked for Trans World Airlines. This is a picture of Nancy taken in 1965. She retired from TWA in 1992 after 27 years. She was hired as an International Flight Attendant and after her son Nick was born, she worked as an Agent in charge of Baggage service at O'Hare and held several different management positions in In-flight Service.
Nancy has been married to Tom Friedman for 34 years. He is retired from American Airlines. They retired in Pisgah Forest, NC, population 6,000, three years ago. (A real Mayberry) just under an hour from Asheville, after living in Chicago, Ft. Lauderdale Fl, Melbourne, Fl. and Tampa, FL.
Nancy's Husband Tom Nancy's Son Nick is a potter who has a pottery studio less than a mile from her home. He lives here with his wife Jen. The girl in the below picture is Nick's employee-not wife.
